Congratulations to our Class of 2025 for achieving some of Worthing High School's best-ever results.
On Tuesday 1st July 50 year 9 students followed a Zoom Cookery Lesson run by Jamie Oliver and his Chefs. We made homemade pasta dough and were shown how to hand shape it in two different ways to form Gnocchetti and Pici Pasta. We also made a fresh tomato sauce that involved very fine chopping of tomatoes, garlic and basil.

STEAM Update - Faraday Challenge
Tuesday 12 March, 6 students were taken to participate in the Faraday Challenge. An annual competition with a real-world challenge for pupils aged 12-13 years. Students were given a brief, which asks them to design a device which solved a problem.
The students worked well together, using electronics, science knowledge and engineering processes to design and build a working model of their idea. They were scored on many aspects of the day including the final presentation of their idea. ALL of the students did well, and we were delighted to bring back the trophy as winners.
There are many opportunities to get involved with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) at Worthing High School.

Tax-Free Childcare (TFC) is a childcare top-up for working parents. It can be used to help pay for accredited holiday clubs, childminders, or sports activities. TFC enables parents and carers to access childcare during the school holidays, saving them money. It is estimated that there are 1.3 million working families who are eligible for TFC in the UK, however only a small percentage are making use of the scheme. Around 75% of families are losing out on this support.
TFC is available for children aged up to 11, or 17 if the child has a disability. You can signpost families to Childcare Choices, so they can see if they are eligible. You can find out more about the scheme here.
Many parents don’t realise that TFC can be saved up on their accounts. Even if childcare is not required throughout the school terms, there is still the option to save up funds which could be used for holiday clubs or out of school care. As half term approaches, it is a good opportunity to remind families of these schemes so they can plan for the upcoming holidays.
We have mental health workshops, all led by experienced CAMHS clinicians or partner organisations which will take place virtually until July 2024. As a school community we work with Action Your Potential to support our students, parents and carers and staff to build the metacognitive skills of becoming a #NeuroNinja.
A #NeuroNinja is someone who understands how their brain works. Our brain is shaped by 4 psycho-social forces. Our habits shape our brain. Our relationships with friends, families and other people shape our brain. Our relationship with ourselves shapes our brain. And our goals shape our brain.
Please see letter below for links and further information.
We had an enormous amount entries for this competition which will be done every half term. The students are encouraged to solve problem solving questions. This competition is only open to WHS students.
I just want to congratulate all of our students who entered this competition.
Thank you
Mrs Oz
