Worthing High School

STEAM

At Worthing High School our aim is to prepare our students not just for the next step in education, but for the rest of their lives, their careers and their future. It is often said that many of the careers our young people will go on to do, don’t yet exist; particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (known collectively as STEAM).

With an increasing demand on STEAM skillsets within industry, we want to motivate and inspire pupils further to  explore the rewarding opportunities available through STEAM.

During the course of their five years with us, students can expect opportunities to attend STEAM events and workshops, ranging from industry run hands-on experiences to weekly STEAM club opportunities.

We have a Greenpower club which allows students to build and race two electric vehicles .

We strive to make strong links with local STEAM businesses and nearby universities/medical schools who help us increase our students’ awareness of the next steps, should they wish to pursue them.

STEAM days and activities regularly take place within our focus days, filled with activities and competitions for the students to get involved with. From rocket powered vehicles, coding clubs to Pi recitals we try to show our students the breadth of opportunities that STEAM has to offer.

The WHS STEAM programme boasts a plethora of activities for your child – keep an eye out for them.
