Worthing High School

Arrangements for Tuesday 20th July

Urgent message to all parents/ carers Monday 19 July 2021.

Please accept our apologies for having to cancel and make changes this morning. We had a number of late Covid notifications that were putting the safe running of trips at risk. We are extremely mindful that there is an underlying risk that if one child should test positive, the whole coach would then need to self-isolate for 10 days.

I know this will have been a bitter disappointment to many of you, but with infection rates in our school and the locality increasing, it would be irresponsible of the school to not try and safeguard our students and staff as much as possible. Below is a summary of key changes to our provision tomorrow and our plans for the rest of the week.

Year 7 students who were due to go on the Drusilla’s trip today, 19 July 2021 will attend school tomorrow (7B1, 7B2, 7H1, 7H2). Those that were due to go to Drusilla’s tomorrow, 20 July 2021,will stay at home and access remote learning provision (7S1, 7S2, 7T1, 7T2).

Unfortunately the Year 8 trip to Herstmonceux has been postponed, so all Year 8 students will access remote provision from home. We will communicate plans for Wednesday and Thursday by 1pm tomorrow.

Year 9 students will be accessing remote provision Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday will be remote taster sessions for their KS4 Option choices and will be delivered live, by their classroom teacher. More details regarding taster lessons will follow. Plans for Thursday will be communicated by 1pm tomorrow.

Rescheduling of trips

All trips have been postponed until Monday 27th September, so your child’s place on the trip will be retained. Further information will be communicated in the new academic year. Please can I ask that, if your child was not due to attend but you would like them to on the new date you contact trips@worthinghigh.net.

Thank you for your resilience and continued support and hope that we can finally get to the end of this term, in a more positive way and enjoy a well-deserved break for all of us.

Kind regards
