Year 9 Options and SRE event 7.1.21
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we have been working on a dedicated section of the website to help you and your child make informed choices, as we ask them to decide what they wish to study in Year 10 and 11.

All students will be allocated a pathway of study (more information on this can be found on the website) and in the new year we will be writing to parents to confirm pathways, giving students an options booklet and working with the students to explain their choices and the pathway they have been put on. Unfortunately, it is not possible to do this in an assembly, due to the Covid-19 restrictions, so we will be running a series of briefings in tutor bases.
All students will continue with the compulsory core subjects: GCSE English, Maths and Science, they will also continue with PSHE and PE, which are not examined. We ask that they now start to think about which subjects they might like to take. We will be adding a series of videos to the website, detailing more information on each of our option subjects, so please look out for these and we encourage students to talk to their subject teachers, after the Christmas break.
To help support this process we also have our YEAR 9 VIRTUAL SUBJECT REVIEW EVENING – THURSDAY 7 JANUARY 2021. We encourage parents/carers and their children to book appointments (please see the attachment to this email). This will give you the opportunity to discuss the suitability of certain subjects and learn more about them. Due to limited time slots for teachers, we ask that in addition to English Maths and Science, you only book appointments for subjects your child has an interest in taking.
