Worthing High School

Specsavers ‘Virtual’ Sussex School Games competition 2020

In addition to our Worthing High School ‘Beat the teacher’ weekly challenges, students have the opportunity to represent themselves, schools, the School Games Area and compete in the Southern area Specsavers ‘Virtual’ Sussex School Games competition 2020’ which we be launching on Monday 27 April with the ‘Virtual’ Opening Ceremony on social media, and the launch of the first sport.

This will be a series of sport-based challenges, run online throughout the summer term, giving students the opportunity to represent Worthing High School in a competition (if they wish), and compete to be crowned Sussex champions.

As with the ‘normal’ School Games programme, medals and trophies will be awarded, and there will be more prizes than ever to give children the opportunity to continue to enjoy representing their school in sport competition but in a virtual way.

Like our Worthing High School Beat the teacher weekly challenges this is a great way to stay active and still compete during these circumstances.

How Does It Work?

Every week throughout the summer term, a different sport will take place, made up of four personal sporting challenges which can be completed from home; in the living room, kitchen or garden, or at school.

Scores for each challenge need to be submitted online by students, and will contribute towards the Worthing High Schools average score.

Students can attempt each challenge as many times as they want to improve their score. But all results must be submit by Friday midday.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the highest scoring schools in each sport, with separate Primary and Secondary competitions.

There will also be an Active Adults category with trophies up for grabs, so parents, teachers and carers can get involved and represent the Worthing High School too.

As well as medals in individual sports, overall leaderboards will be kept, and overall Sussex Champions crowned at the end of the summer term.

A new sport, and it’s four challenges per sport, will be published at 9.30am on a Monday morning, on www.sussexschoolgames.co.uk, on social media, and sent directly to those signed up to the mailing list: http://eepurl.com/gYEFSz
