Communication to Year 11 Parents/Carers

Please enter an introduction for your news story here.

Dear Year 11 parents and carers,

As promised in the last parent communication, I am writing with further information about the mock exam arrangements, for year 11 in October. Attached to the email is a timetable for the exams and a summary of what the mocks will focus on and Period 6/0 timetable.

Study leave

This will begin on October 14th until the end of term on 23rd October. During this period, students only come in when they have an exam. The purpose of study leave is to give students a flavour of the real exams, where they will have the time and space to independently revise. Where students have more than one exam in a day and there is not enough time to go home between exams, we will make provision for them in school.

Preparation

We will not disadvantage students by assessing topics they may have struggled with during lockdown. Time will be spent in lessons, ensuring they are prepared and as with all exams, preparation is key and should also take place at home. Throughout this term we will also be using assembly time, PSHE lessons and tutor time to prepare students for the exams.

Timetables

I have attached the exam timetable. This has all exams, we will share personalised timetables nearer the time. All exams will take place in the Sports Hall.

Practical exams

PE and Performing Arts practical assessments will happen on Monday 12th October, before study leave. These will only affect students for short periods in the day and they will be told times by their PE/Performing Arts teachers.

Support

Parents and carers have had the opportunity to purchase revision guides through the school. We do not carry stock of these, however I have attached a summary of all the exam papers and appropriate revision materials your child could access, for each exam they sit.

Once we have the results of the mock exams, we will convey them to you and your child. We will also be in a more informed position to provide any intervention or support required ahead of the summer exams. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Beda, the Year 11 Progress Leader. mbeda@worthinghigh.net

Kind regards,
