Urgent Message - Closure for Year 9 Students only from Wednesday 18 March

We have taken the decision to send Year 9 students home with immediate effect from Wednesday 18th March.

Dear Year 9 Parents and Carers,

Year 9 Covid-19 Update

Following on from the Prime Minister’s announcement on increased Self Isolation for vulnerable groups, we have seen a significant increase in staff and students who are now self-isolating.

We have taken the decision to send Year 9 students home with immediate effect from Wednesday 18th March.

Year 9 students have been informed the reasons why and have been shown how to access their work via Show My Homework (SMHW) and SAM Learning. They should have a reading book and we strongly encourage all students to complete work set and spend an hour a day reading. All students have their timetables and we recommend that they follow these as a daily guide. Please go through this plan with your child.

Year 9 will be off until Friday 27th March in the first instance, and we will update accordingly.

If the current situation changes or we receive clarity from the Government and staff are able to return to work sooner, we will obviously communicate that with yourselves.

Year 9 students need to be at home and should not be out of the home during school hours as per Government recommendations.

All other year groups will remain in school as normal until further notice. We will endeavour to communicate information to you on a daily basis so that you can plan accordingly.

Our priorities as a school is to safeguard our students, staff and the community we serve and I know this will cause some challenges and anxieties, but I hope you will be able to appreciate that we are all in unchartered waters, and trying to do our very best.

If you have any queries please can you direct these to Mr Morris, Yr9 Progress Leader and Ms Baron, Yr9 Pastoral Leader in the first instance.

I thank you in advance for your support.

Yours faithfully

Pan Panayiotou
