Saturday 21st March - Art Workshop

Join Ropetackle in Shoreham for a marine themed photography workshop this Spring on 21 March from 10.00-14.00

Looking for a creative family day out this season and interested in how to help protect our oceans? Come along to a specially themed photography workshop at the Ropetackle Centre, Shoreham by Sea, on 21 March from 10am-2pm and get involved.

Marine wildlife is under threat from litter in our seas. Hundreds of species are endangered by the waste we leave behind on the beach. To learn about how we can protect our oceans - whilst also engaging your creative skills - we are running a free, family friendly photography workshop.

The workshops will be led by artists Lindsey Smith and Annis Joslin, with support from undergraduates from the University of Brighton and the Marine Conservation Society. Photoworks will provide the photography equipment and the nautical themed studio sets so all you need to do is drop by.

It's a great chance to work with some engaging artists. Photographic artist and filmmaker, Lindsey Smith runs Photoworks's Saturday Photography Club as part of the University of Brighton's outreach programme for 13-16 year olds. Annis Joslin is an artist and filmmaker, and leads our photography workshops in collaboration with Petworth House for schools across the South East. This day is the perfect opportunity for adults and children alike to combine learning and artistic experimentation.

Ropetackle will also be screening artwork created by pupils in previous workshops. Students from Shoreham Academy, Sir Robert Woodard Academy, Steyning Grammar School, Worthing High School, Davison High School have been exploring marine pollution on our coastline supported by Photoworks, the Marine Conservation Society and a range of photographers and scientists. This will be on show during the day for all to enjoy.
